Refreshing Pineapple Ginger Drink

This Pineapple Ginger Juice Drink is sweet, tangy with a kick of spice yet deliciously refreshing! Although this drink is a favourite in the summer, it’s perfect all year round. So get ready to impress your family and friends with this nutritious and satisfying tropical drink.

In this recipe, I use my Blender for juicing my Pineapples. I’ve used my Oster Blender when juicing and blending ingredients for many years, and I love it! Just make sure you have a large strainer to extract the juice and remove the seeds and the thick pulp and you’re good to go.

Benefits of Pineapples

Pineapples are a sweet tropical fruit that’s not only tasty but packed with lots of health benefits. In a nutshell, pineapples are full of antioxidants, enzymes and a variety of nutrients that does the body well.

Here are a few of those benefits in detail so you know what you’re getting when you consume Pineapples:

– Pineapples are packed with Vitamin C and Manganese. Vitamin C supports your immune system and aids in the growth and repair of tissues. It works together with Manganese to build collagen, keeping your skin plump and wrinkle-free. Both also act as antioxidants protecting cells against premature ageing and illnesses.

– Pineapples reduce digestive problems due to the presence of an enzyme called bromelain which helps to breakdown proteins. So be sure to have a glass of pineapple ginger juice with your meals when possible.

You can easily find ginger in many forms from fresh ginger root, to dried, to powdered. This is because there is a widespread demand for ginger due to its health benefits. Many Jamaicans add ginger to dishes like curry chicken which they believe prevents nausea, stomach pain and indigestion.

Perfect SUNday Refresher

This Pineapple Ginger Juice recipe is one of my family favourites because it reminds me of a cool Jamaican Sunday afternoon. In Jamaica, Sundays were ‘juice days’. Whenever we had Sunday dinner, there would always be a natural homemade juice on the side. On those Sundays when my mother couldn’t get soursop to make soursop juice, we would have carrot juice, beetroot juice, lemonade or Pineapple Ginger juice.

So here’s why you’ll love this Pineapple Juice recipe. Firstly, you’ll learn my quick and easy way to peel a pineapple. Secondly, with this recipe, you don’t need an automatic fruit juicer. You can still make this drink as long as you have a blender and a large strainer. Another great thing about this recipe is that you can omit the sugar or replace it with apples or with another sweetener of choice. I’ve also given you a recipe using the whole pineapple instead of just the pineapple skin. That way, you’ll benefit from all the natural fibre and nutrients in the pineapple.

Refreshing Pineapple Ginger Juice Drink Recipe

This Pineapple Ginger Juice recipe is perfect when you need a refreshing beverage that's naturally sweet, flavourful and satisfying!

Servings 7 cups

Ingredients

10 cups ripe pineapple chopped
5 - 6 cups water
3 large Fuji Apples chopped, optional (for 'sugar-free' recipe)
3 - 4 inch ginger root chopped, or 2 teaspoons of unsweetened ginger powder
1/4 cup lemon juice 2 tbsp lime juice
1/4 cup sugar or honey to taste

Instructions

Peel (please see my youtube video below), and cut pineapple into small pieces. Add half of the cut pineapples (approximately 5 cups) to a blender.
Peel, wash and roughly chop the ginger root, then add it to the blender.
If you'd like to make a 'sugar-free' Pineapple Ginger Drink Recipe, add the chopped Fuji apples to the blender.
Next, add half of the water to the blender.
Blend on high for approximately 15 seconds (stopping every 5 seconds), or until the pieces of pineapples are blended smooth.
Strain the juice into a large bowl. Using a large spoon, stir and press the mixture through the strainer until only dry fibrous pineapple pieces remain. Discard the dry pulp.
Repeat the process of blending and straining until you have juiced all of the pineapple.
Add the lemon juice and a sweetener of choice then stir thoroughly. Omit the sweetener if apples were added earlier.
Taste the mixture to determine whether it needs more sweetener or water. If so, add a little more of the required ingredient at a time, until you get the desired taste.
Finally, pour your Pineapple Ginger Juice Drink into a sealed container and refrigerate. This recipe makes about 7 cups and can last up to 3 days when refrigerated.

Notes

My Peeps - In this recipe, I used a blender instead of a juicer. The blender I use when juicing is the Oster Blender. Just make sure you have a large strainer to extract the juice and remove the seeds and the thick pulp. I've used my Oster Blender (as seen in all my youtube videos) when juicing for many years, and I love it!
