Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk (dairy or plant-based)

  • 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon agar powder (or another setting agent)

  • Fresh fruit (kiwi, orange, pomegranate, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fruit:

    • Slice your fruits into small cubes or thin slices as desired. Set them aside for later use.

  2. Heat the Milk:

    • In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Add sugar to taste and stir until it dissolves completely. If you’re using vanilla extract, add it to the milk at this point.

  3. Add Agar Powder:

    • In a separate small bowl, dissolve the agar powder in a little bit of cold water (about 1 tablespoon). Once it’s fully dissolved, add this to the warm milk mixture.

  4. Bring to a Simmer:

    • Bring the milk to a simmer while constantly stirring to ensure the agar powder is well incorporated and the mixture thickens slightly. Keep simmering for about 3-5 minutes until it thickens.

  5. Prepare the Mold:

    • Pour the milk mixture into a mold or tray of your choice. Let it cool for a few minutes before adding the fruit.

  6. Add Fruit:

    • Once the milk mixture has cooled slightly but is still liquid, place the sliced fruits into the mold. Arrange them artistically for a beautiful look.

  7. Chill and Set:

    • Place the mold in the fridge for about 2-3 hours, or until the dessert has fully set. The agar will help it solidify without the need for gelatin.

  8. Serve:

    • Once the dessert is set, cut it into cubes or slices and serve chilled.

Enjoy this refreshing and healthy milk and fruit dessert, perfect for a quick treat!
