Cheesy Ham Puff Pastry Stacks

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade), thawed

  • 4–6 slices of ham

  • 4–6 slices of cheddar or American cheese

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Chopped chives (for garnish)

  • Butter or cooking spray (optional)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the pastry:

    • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.

    • Cut out round discs using a cookie cutter or a glass (about 3-4 inches in diameter). You’ll need an even number of discs (e.g., 12 discs for 6 sandwiches).

  3. Assemble the stacks:

    • Place half of the pastry discs on the baking sheet.

    • Top each with a slice of ham and a slice of cheese (trim to fit).

    • Cover with another pastry disc and press the edges gently to seal.

  4. Brush with egg wash:

    • Beat the egg and brush the tops of the pastries. This gives them a golden, glossy finish.

  5. Bake:

    • Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

  6. Garnish and serve:

    • Sprinkle chopped chives on top before serving. Serve warm!


Tips:

  • You can substitute ham with cooked bacon or turkey.

  • For extra flavor, add mustard or a thin layer of cream cheese before the ham and cheese.
