Tip: This dessert is about 250-350 calories per serving, depending on the size of the tacos and how much whipped cream is used. It’s a fun and unique way to enjoy apple pie, perfect for any occasion or to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Ingredients:
4 apples, peeled and sliced

1/2 cup sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup water

Flour tortillas (6-inch size)

Oil (for frying tortillas)

1/2 cup sugar + cinnamon mixture (for sprinkling)

Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions:
Step 1:

In a saucepan, combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water.

Stir until well blended and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently for about 10 minutes, or until the apples are semi-soft.

If needed, thicken the sauce by mixing 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 3-4 tablespoons of water, then stir it into the sauce until it thickens.

Step 2:

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat for frying the tortillas.

To form the taco shell, hold the tortilla folded in half and place the bottom of the tortilla into the oil for a few seconds.

Once the bottom side is browned, flip the tortilla to the other side to brown.

Remove from the oil and sprinkle with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.

Step 3:

Once the taco shells are cooled slightly, fill each one with the apple pie filling.

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with a little more sugar-cinnamon mixture for extra flavor.

Notes:
Saving Energy: Frying the tortillas is a quick process, and the apple filling is cooked efficiently on the stovetop, making this dessert relatively energy-efficient.

Health Benefits: While this dessert is a fun treat, it’s high in sugar and calories due to the sugar, cinnamon, and whipped cream. You can make it a little lighter by using a sugar substitute or low-fat whipped cream. Enjoy in moderation!
